Re: FREESPORT ? WHEN ?

The short answer is the staff on here don't know either.

Negotiations with broadcasters take place behind closed doors & you will only know you are getting new channels when they suddenly appear.

Staff will only give you the usual scripted answer "we are always reviewing our packages" etc.

Bear in mind that Freesports has "bought" space on the other platforms it appears on. Sky & Freesat do not "decide" to carry free channels as the transaction is direct with the satellite owners/operators in Belgium.  Their only involvement is a nominal fee for allocating an EPG number. Freeview is set up in the same way as satellite, with Freesports buying spare space on a multiplex. All the "hybird" providers like BT & TalkTalk piggyback on a Freeview reciever. If you aerial does not pick up Freesports these pay providers will not offer it down the phone line instead.

Virgin is a closed system, so all of us are paying for EVERY channel we recieve, whether its on the lowest Player TV pack or not, as the channels have to be pumped through several thousand miles of cabling & 50+ cable headends to get to all of us. The more channels carried the more the price increases.

Talking Pictures TV took a while to appear on Virgin & I expect Freesports will be the same.

Re: True Movies, Movies 24 and Movies 24+

True Movies (424), Movies 24 (419) and Movies 24+ (420) are all viewable on my Mix package, contrary to both the Virgin Media website and Channel Guide PDF.

Re: FREESPORT ? WHEN ?

Hi,

thanks for your resonse, as i've said i'm not trying to come across as aggressive as i accept that this is a 'community'...but the answer  currently is "we have no answer "...which isn't good enough. I'm not having a go at you personally but someone at virgin must know whats going on with this and they are surely aware that customers are asking (or at least they ought to be !!). Given that they provide this forum in the absence of 'real' customer service thay should at least try to make it useful.

so i'll repeat the questions...not to yourself...but to the "behind closed doors" people...

what is going on ?

are we getting this channel or not ?

there are lots of customers wanting an answer and noone seems to be listening

Re: FREESPORT ? WHEN ?

You won't get an answer as already stated. Its commercially sensitive information.

They don't tell us SU's even though we have to abide by company disclosure rules.

Tivo network error

Just had the new Tivo V6 box installed and working fine connected to router. Virgin suggested using the old Tivo box and replace the Samsung box which they supplied for a different room. The original Tivo now does not have an ethernet connection to the router and is showing C130 network error. Can I not connect the old Tivo over wifi to the router?

Recording

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why my virgin box records programmes by itself? It records channels that aren't even watched

Re: Pixelation

Oh dear! Scratch what I said earlier...

Things seemed much better - still the occasional 'blocking and lining' but much less than before. Then Friday night it started up again while watching Channel 4 HD. During 'Gogglebox' the picture degraded to virtually unwatchable - like before.

I've called and an engineer - now the FOURTH - is coming Weds.

Not at all happy.

How do I get rid of the need for my pin ?

I don't want to have to enter my pin every time I watch a recording that was on after 10pm

Online downgrades?

Hi,
I am currently on a package I can no longer afford, why is there no downgrade options online like you have upgrade options? I simply have too many tv channels and all my recorded programmes are from bbc1 and 2, ITV and channel 4.
Can I simply downgrade my TV package to make my bill cheaper? I don't even really need a landline phone either.
What are my options of sorting this out online? I work long hours and don't have time for long phone calls costing me even more money.
Thanks
Steve

Re: Online downgrades?

It is not possible to downgrade your package using the My Offers & Upgrades section in My Virgin Media. You can use live chat but for best results ring up 150 from your landline and use the "thinking of leaving us" option to speak to customer services. It's free and the opening hours are 8am - 10pm Monday to Sunday.

Here is the channel guide which shows which channels are available on each TV package. Only Player, Mix & Full House are currently offered.

If you wanted to do away with the landline completely, you can downgrade to Player TV & VIVID 100 broadband. The standard price for this is £43 per month.

Upgrade offers con

So I decided to look at adding TV to my broadband and phone package.

I currently have the vivid 200 gamer bundle and talk weekends.

Under my offers it says I could get the basic 70 channel TV package for nothing extra or the 150 channels for an extra £12 a month.

Great I thought till my partner pointed out it was not the broadband I’m currently on and just the vivid 200. Most might think it’s the same speed so I’m complaining about nothing? Well no. In the gamer bundle you don’t get throttled with traffic management at busy times. Being a busy household of 5 who all have various devices and game consoles we need our broadband how it is.

So I look at the just upgrade TV and you want an extra £53.66 a month for TV.

I can get sky Q with box sets and a multi room box for £50

It’s a good job my partner pointed out your offers con as vivid 200 could be mistaken when shown as it is for the vivid gamer 200.

After the bad start adding someone else’s debt to my account and messing me around at the start I can’t wait for my 18 month contract to be up.

Moving a vbox

How much would it cost to move a vbox from one bedroom to another?

Re: Moving a vbox

£99

But it might be worth looking into adding a Tivo or V6 box under mutliroom as then you can get the box upgraded and the cabling installed to the bedroom. This will have a monthly cost but might be worth looking into depending on cost.

You could chat to CS to see what deal they can do as the vbox is old and no longer supplied.

murder in the first S3 E3 missing

My recording of FOX TV 'murder in the first' Series 3 Episode 3  'Black and Blue' recorded Family Guy instead and is not shown in the list of episodes for the programme series 3

Re: How do I get rid of the need for my pin ?

You can do this via the menus on your box.

The exception is Sky Cinema, which is allowed by OFCOM to ignore normal watershed restrictions only if the PIN is "locked on" irrespective of customer settings.

Re: Recording

TV

Is there a difference between player tv 60 channels & player tv 70 channels? Advert said 70 but account says 60.

Billing

I agreed a change over the phone at the beginning of Sept,
Bill was going down.
I have the new contract that I was expecting to come out today.....guess what it came out the old amount!!!!
Where do I go to get this sorted?

Re: v6 box

I have now the v6 box and also an upgraded router. I have lost my recorded programmes and decided in the end this was a price worth paying. I think I was misled by the pressure saleswoman on the phone who spontaneously (before I needed to ask) told me I could download the recorded programmes and said I would get information as to how to do this which I never got. This may be possible but I reckon difficult for a tech naif like me - basically misleading salespersonship which does Virgin no credit and just irritates the customer.

Re: Why Virgin Media Doesn't Show Pakistani Channels in UK

I think you took it all wrong, and got your mind into calculating UK population percentages.

Sky offers a balanced mix of channels which is a good strategy. Virgin Media should also offer a balanced mix. There is a reason behind this "Balance Factor" which Sky is taking full advantage of.
