TV loss of signal

Hi 

My elderly parents are having problems with their TV, loss of signal and pixalating.

Could this be sorted out.

I have found now for some time that channel 4 On Demand and channel 5's MY5 does not work on some programmes. When requested all I get is a blank screen with a white circle rotating for some time until I get fed up with waiting and switch off.

I find it very annoying and if it continues I thing I will ask for a refund.

Hi, Virgin staff take around a week to respond on here and there would be further delay in exchanging messages with them when supplying your parents account details, clearing security etc.

The quickest way to get this resolved is to ring 150 from a Virgin landline or 0345 454 1111 from other phones and use the "if there's a fault with your TV service" option. They'll run some tests and send an engineer if necessary.

Are you or your parents able to check that the Virgin coax cable is screwed in tight at the set-top box and the wall point? That would be the first course of action.

Replacement V+ Box

Hi,

I have an engineer coming out tomorrow to replace my Samsung V+ box due to a fault. I have called back to find out what they will be replacing this with but they're unable to tell me, will this be replaced with a Tivo or V6? I already have a Tivo in the household which is terrible and runs ridiculously slow so would rather this be replaced with the V6.

I was just on hold to the home builders team for 45 minutes just to be hung up on!!! This is the second time this has happened how he hell are you supposed to speak to anyone! I am on the free trial but if I knew I would have such hassle and issue I wouldn't of bothered!!! Virgin media have awful customer service and I would like someone to end my connection after the free trial.

It will depend what the engineer identified as appropriate for your setup, and whether it meets the requirements for a Virgin TV V6.

For instance the Virgin TV V6 box needs a home network connection to Virgin Media broadband. If that isn't possible that you'd get a TiVo.

As BenMcr said, you'll get the V6 box if you meet the criteria and a connection to the Superhub is possible. You definitely won't get another V+ as they stopped supplying them a few months ago.

The current V+ is right next to our SuperHub so hopefully it'll be a V6.

Bear in mind Virgin don't choose the channels broadcast on its network, it is down to the channel provider to contact them and pay for a slot on the platform. Some providers don't think it's worth it to broadcast on a network that only has coverage of around half of the UK (compared to Sky's 98%). This is where demographics come into play. The target audience may be deemed too low in volume. Your query would be best taken up with the channel providers.

It's not just international channels, it's everything else as well. I would personally like to see more free-to-air music channels on Virgin that are in abundance on satellite but note that many of these channels now no longer pay for slots on the Freesat epg either, because they are aware that most people with satellite TV have Sky (separate platform from Freesat).

In plain sight is a 3 part drama first shown in December 2016 only the first episode is available on box sets please sort this. I’ve also noticed this on other box sets please can you review your box sets it’s so annoying to get halfway through and find bits missing

hi, when I used to have a virgin hd box, I could scroll through the tv guide and when I saw a program I wanted to watch that hadnt started yet, I could select it and request that the box changed to that channel when it started.  This was extremely useful and I used it a lot, it meant I could go to sleep watching one channel and have the box change channels during the night so I could be woken up to the channel I wanted to watch in the morning. I now use a Tivo box and this feature seems to have disappeared as it only offers me the option of being reminded or recording.  Is there a way I can get the box to change channel that I havent noticed?

Are you able to subscribe to the player bundle and sports packages i.e. BT sport and sky sport by ringing up and doing this over the phone also are you able to add individual channels ie Cartoonito As a standalone and for instance adding sky one on its own is this something which is available by ringing up virgin TV only thanks for your help if anybody can help answer my question

Yes you can add Sky Sports & BT Sports to the Player TV package by ringing up and using the option "to add a service". Sky Sports costs £31.75 (there is an offer for £22 but you may or may not qualify for this) and BT Sports costs £18. Bear in mind if you want both Sky Sports & BT Sports it may work out cheaper for you to upgrade to Full House TV which includes BT Sports as standard, though you will still need to subscribe to Sky Sports separately.

It is not possible to add individual channels, you would need to upgrade to the package that has that channel included. Here is the channel guide. Please note only Player, Mix, Full House & VIP are now offered.

Thank you for this. Fortunately I can get this via Freeview. But is this the same reason I cannot get the red button on Sky Sports to get a choice of matches - eg Game of the day at 2230?

Further, being deaf, I rely on subtitles but while I got them on Sky Golf at the weekend, there were none for the footie.

If you log into My Virgin Media, and go to "My Bills" you'll see an option to "View contract" which will give you the information you're after.

If this doesn't work, check your emails as there should be one there from when you started your contract if you haven't deleted it. Then it's just a case of adding 12 or 18 months from that date, depending on your contract length.

If all else fails give them a call or use the live chat feature and ask them.
