Hi there,
I have no service (TV+INTERNET) whatsoever. An engineer was booked for Tuesday afternoon but until then we will have no service. I understand that there is no engineer available earlier than that but my question is:
Why should I pay for a service that I do not get?
I should be entitled to ask for a discount on those days that I did not get any service. I am really frustrated with Virgin Media support, when I called they made the same tests I did through My Virgin Media account, so no help at all apart from booking an engineer for next week. I need to make a formal complaint about this, because I am not happy at all with their service.

Hi Carolynheenan,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forums. It's great having you on board with us ![Smiley Happy Smiley Happy]()
In order for both the TiVo® and the V6 to work, you will need to have both boxes active on the account. If you don't already then give the team a call on 150 / 0345 454 1111. They can add the 2nd box on for you.
Come back and let us know how you get on.
Thanks,

I have replaced the old TiVo with the new V6 box. How much would it cost to reactivate the old one (and not returning it to VM) as the 3rd box at home. I have the XXL big bundle pack. Thanks.

I noticed recently that some programs on Gold tv had large black vertical borders ( like 4.3 ratio ).
it's the same on my v6 box and v+hd box. Upon investigation , i noticed it only happens on the +1 channel. So the exact same program is full screen on Gold tv and 4.3 on Gold tv +1 , can anyone else test this. Thanks in advance

I did not realise that!
So the consumers choice is Satellite Dish Sky TV that cuts out and becomes unwatchable in Heavy Rain and/or High Winds with nearby Trees getting in the way when their leaves come out for the summer OR Virgin Cable TV that instead suffers from vandals plugging the cable that serves your house into a different power level (of the four available levels) in the frequently wide open Virgin Street Distribution Cabinets due to poor quality locks on their doors.
Instead of attenuating the signal in the cabinet it would be more tamperproof to attenuate the signal inside the house so it wouldn't make any difference what the vandal did to the street cabinet - or fit effective locks to all the cabinets.
Has anyone ever experimented with a variable attenuator to see if they can fine tune their cable line - meaning between the four fixed power levels that they are on? Only four power levels must be quite a compromise for the big areas a cabinet serves.
Why don't Virgins Super Hubs and Cable TV Boxes include (automatic self-tuning) internal software controlled attenuators? It would eliminate the four different power levels of the street cabinet issue - it would also eliminate thousands of service calls daily only to "adjust power levels" when all that really means is someone having to go out just to move a cable from one socket to another adjacent socket in the street cabinet - surely that could be automated by doing it remotely by software controlled attenuators inside Super Hubs and Set Top Boxes.

When I log on to TV Anywhere I get as far as as a blank screen with the "busy" signal. The last time this happened (at least 12 months ago) I was told to check the Chrome plugins. I now use Firefox.

Cable TV is not IPTV like you get over a phone line. It works on linear broadcast channels the same as Satellite & Terrestrial TV (ie It uses a huge chunk of radio spectrum to deliver all 200+ channels to the box all the time, no matter which ones you are actually watching. Therefore the TiVO needs a coaxial connection which will have to be installed by a technican (as specialised cable is used & signal levels will require adjustment at the street cabinet). The powerline connection is only required if you want to stream recordings to another TiVO on your account, & to use a smartphone or tablet as a remote.
The cost to make the changes (as it is not fault related) will cost £99
The only alternative is to leave the TiVO where it is & install a long HDMI cable.

Why haven't you got one already?
Was the box supplied by Virgin or did you get it elsewhere? If you bought it or it was given to you its a worthless piece of junk as it can not be activated. Virgin no longer supply these as they are technically obselete. They also will not activate anything not supplied directly by them, & registered to your account.

Welcome to the device settings club. Drives me crazy to be honest. Everytime my browser is updated or new operating system updated i get device settings reached. Am here as I speak having to watch football yet again on a mobile device with a pair of reading glasses.
Really thinking of going over to sky now.
You need to keep posting in the forums and hope that an admin picks you up and rectifies it for you.
Good luck !!!

Virgin Media has added two Bollywood to its programming line-up – Rishtey Cineplex and MTV Beats.
Following the launch of Brit Asia TV, Islam Channel UK and Islam Channel Urdu earlier this summer, Virgin TV customers with the Mix package and above can now view 13 Asian and Islamic channels.
Favourites - Colors and Rishtey Europe are already available on Virgin TV on channel numbers 826 and 827 respectively.

Not sure if there'll be an upfront fee since you still have the box in your possession. The £14.99 activation fee will still likely apply and the monthly cost is £7.50. Bear in mind you'll need an engineer to install the cabling in the 3rd room.
Give them a ring and see what they say.

This is interesting, there was another thread recently about this and it was also said the issue was specific to Gold +1.
To me it makes sense that old programmes are shown in their native aspect ratio (4:3), what I don't understand is why this would differ between a channel and its time-shifted counterpart. Can only guess that Gold are aware that some people prefer to watch the programme in its original aspect ratio whilst others prefer it in 16:9 as they dislike the black borders. By operating in this way they are essentially giving their viewers the best of both worlds.
Personally I dislike a 4:3 programme stretched out to 16:9, makes faces look unnaturally wide.
Regarding the adverts on ITV, completely normal. Some adverts are shot in a different aspect ratio.

He would need to give Virgin a call on 150 from his landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone to add a TV subscription to his package. He will be sent a TiVo box or a V6 box if he pays an upfront fee.
The lowest TV package Virgin offer is called "Player TV". The standard price for Player TV, VIVID 100 broadband + phone is £48 per month. For an extra £7 he could get "Mix TV" which would give him quite a lot of extra channels. For best results, he should use the "thinking of leaving us" option as that's the customer service team. As he's adding a new service they may apply some discount.
See here for a list of channels included in the Player TV package.

Some adverts are shot for both cinema & TV use. Cinemas commonly operate in either 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio compared to 1.77:1 for HD TV, hence you will see letterboxing on a TV screen when one of these is broadcast.

I've seen this asked previously, im reoosting because i haven't seen it answered !
apologies if this comes across as aggressive but i dont want a response from some pro-virgin luvvie avoiding the question and giving nonsensicals reasons as to why virgin should be defended and not crtiscised for now being a whole month behind the other major platforms. Just tells us firstly ARE we getting it ?...if we're not just be honest and tell us...and if we are getting it, WHEN are we getting it ?
again apologies if these sound aggressive for a 'community' but we are passed off to these places in the absence if any proper customer service so i would hope that there is some 'official' virgin presence on here and these questions ought to have been answered by now
