if metal shielding is going  free I'll have some please.

the cable from my brown box, goes along an exterior wall, a few inches above ground, all along the side of the house before entering the house wall . Any vandal with pliers could easily snip it.

 I always thought we had to go buy our own, or live with the risk ?

Hello and welcome to our community Smiley Happy

 

I'd like to help checkout the sound issue you're reporting to us.  I have taken an initial look at your box remotely, currently I wasn't able to establish a connection to check the signal levels.  

 

In the meantime can you please let me know if your box is currently powered on?  If so, can you also let me know if the same happens when your audio equipment isn't connected? 

 

There is one other thing you can check if you don't mind?  Can you please have a look at the audio settings?  You can do this by following these steps:  

 

HOME > HELP & SETTINGS > SETTINGS > AUDIO > DOLBY DIGITAL > OPTIONS: DOLBY DIGITAL OR DOLBY DIGITAL TO PCM

 

Can you please let me know which is currently selected?

That's my POV as well. Try convincing Virgin Media customer care. It's just impossible. They all repeat the same line from foot soldier to manager: we have to charge for the new V6 TiVo box.

A discount is no use as all BBC catch up and red button is on iPlayer (catch up used to be local). So, for example, you try and watch snooker on the red button, and players keep jumping from one side of the table to the other, and balls that were on the table one second, magically disappear without any cueing! 

I don't call that a good service.

Hi I am assuming that you have your virgin box set on Dolby digital so when provider's are transmitting in 5.1 you know because it shows on the display on your amp, ITV seem to be well behind other channels and don't seem to provide any 5.1 content, but if the box is set on PCM you won't receive 5.1 even if the supplier is providing it.Regards Micky

Hi I think if I was in danger of cutting my link I would just go on line or to a DIY store & get something myself to protect it's so cheap and easy to do.Regards Micky

For anyone waiting on the Samsung TV mine finally arrived today so would advise adding a week to any email about it being dispatched. Model is as basic as they come being a hospitality set obviously meant for hotels etc. It is a Samsung HG32EE460 and only has one HDMI input. Picture is adequate considering it is a lower 1366x768 resolution but sound is supplied by a very tinny 10W speaker. A step-up from no TV I guess!

I have also been experiencing random pixilation, particularly on freeview channels while HD IS fine...this evening it's BBC again. Rebooted and checked all connections. Also tried to use the tv tool on the service status page, but keep getting 'oops something's broken' message. 

Suggestions?

You mention this is happening on both boxes, is it as soon as you try to access On Demand?

 

Is there a Network availability message on the Home screen or are there any flashing lights on the front of the box?

 

I have sent a signal to the box so please reboot by the mains and let me know if there's any improvement.

I can see you've spoken to one of the team already but I'd just like to check if this is still happening?

 

Also is it happening on both boxes?

 

Please reboot by the mains and let me know if it's the same error code.

Movies on demand not working, mainly HD

Hi

My on demand service isn't working as it should be,

The movies don't work for SKY, which are available in my package - HD constantly gives me a 407 error and to try again later,

Some times the non HD work, so I assume this is a broadband problem?

Called about this and they say they logged a ticket for it but no one has come back to me.

Anyone else get this problem?

No TV service at all in SG7 area

Service has been patchy since Monday but having no TV is not listed as a fault in the area...  30 mins on phone only to get the standard "booked an engineer" - next slot Monday.  I fully expect the problem to be sorted before then (always has in the past - it's not the local equipment) but can someone at Virgin please replace the standard "numpty scripts for technophobe customers" for anyone that has been with Virgin for more than 2 years?  As I can guarantee we have done everything requested before we call (probably had all the problems more than once)!!!

Just check the accounts and if greater than 2 years jump to the thanks for reporting a fault - if you need an engineer visit please book a time (most of the time we won't need one).

Have you been able to check the Recording Hiccups to see if there's an explanation as to why these recordings are failing?

 

You will find this option by going to - 

 

Home - My Shows & Recordings - Recording Hiccups.

 

Also is the power always switched on when you go away?

Hi, my picture has started randomly pixalating and breaking up on all channels on VM. It does not happen all the time just randomly. Any ideas?

no catch up and on demand

Yet again no catch up or on demand service for two days.  This seems to be happening at least once a month.  Not good enough I pay enough money for a far better service than this

I have been able to locate your account and sent a signal down to the box so please reboot and let me know if your V+ box is still displaying error code LD40.

Yes that's right you would need to add the HD sports package to watch Sky in HD

 

How are you trying to add this to your package?

 

Our customer services team will be able to do this for you on 150 free from a Virgin Media landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
