Thanks for that info.  I really doubt if they can afford line rental up front with being on a pension.  What I really wanted to know if possible is what is each of the things mentioned, regardless of the cost ie:

what is Fibre 20?

what Multi Talk 75?

Where can I find out what these items are please?

Multi-Talk 75 is an add-on minutes bundle for the phone package for calls not covered by their talk plan.

You should find more detail in the latest call costs tariff files at the bottom of this page:

Fibre 20Mbs is the slowest speed Virgin now offer on retentions packages. (Lowest speed on normal packages is now 100Mbs). It looks like the package they have has not been changed in a while. If you don't renegotiate packages regularly prices will continuously rise.

Hi one of the things they could do is to slim down their TV a bit, the XL package is good, but they might be prepared to slim down the amount of channels they currently receive, to reduce their bill. Regards Micky

Hi 

Over the last couple of weeks any recordings I have done are buffering/pixelating and some are unwatchable. Anybody else experiencing this?

When I had Sky I could received the talking pictures channel which a great free channel. As it is free why can't we get it on Virgin.

Hi i am late with a payment i owe £113 and have paid £48 today. I will be paying the rest end of this week and next but was told in a complaint letter that my bill had been reduced to £104 a month due to lack of service and broadband do u think i can pay the next payments in this long way ?

I'd certainly like to help here so I'll just need to know a bit more information.

 

  • Is the sound loss happening on certain channels?
  • How is your TiVo® set up, are using a surround sound system?
  • Is the sound out of sync and is there any interference with the picture?

Rose B of the forum team. Please can you arrange so I can sort this via email? I honestly cannot phone, hence posting here in the first place.
Since last posting I have noticed that approx 50% of TV I record and watch, or watch from catch up, flashes black every few seconds throughout the show. Very frustrating.
Also, to show just how slow the box is; I purchased the Anthony Joshua fight the other week. At 1 point one of us accidently pressed a button on the remote that "closed" the channel. It took a whole round of watching the circle in the middle of the screen spin before we got back on to the boxing (you've never seen 2 more panicked men than the 2 sat here that night!!).
After seeing some other replies, looking online and speaking to friends, I really feel I should have been offered the newer box, that this box is not fit for purpose, and that I would like to exchange it.

I have taken a look at your connection. 

 

I have taken a look and it seems that you were affected by fault ref F005275175. There was some faulty equipment in the exchange and this has now been resolved. 

 

How have things been looking since you spoke to us last? If you are still having trouble let us know and we will be happy to take another look for you.

Welcome to the forums, I am sorry to see you have also been having trouble with your connection. 

 

I have taken a look and it seems you are affected by fault ref F005275268 for slow speeds at peak times this fault seems to be affecting both TV and Broadband. The current review date is 21/06/2017. Please give this thread a bump closer to the time and we will get an update for you. 

 

I am having a little trouble seeing your power levels currently if you can pop them up for me it will help me to see if there are any other underlying issues: 

 

192.168.0.1 in the browser, log in  Username is admin and the password will be changeme, unless you have changed it. 
Go to Advanced settings. 
Go to Network Status, copy the results back here.

You cannot watch any of the channels on another box you Virgin Media subscription only allows you to watch the channels on the Virgin Media box. You can of course use you TV and an aerial to watch any freeview channel.

The forum team have no authority to upgrade you to the new V6 box and there is no email address for conversing with Virgin Media. As far as I can see, your only chance of a replacement box is to continually ring in and complain. However, because lots of people are prepared to pay for Virgin to update a rented box and there are so many people with the same complaint you are unlikely to succeed. But if you don't ask you will have zero chance. History indicates that there will be a price increase before the end of your contract period and that will give you the opportunity to leave if you want.
