Hi phone and select the thinking of leaving us route you will get through to a person in the UK who know what they are doing and explain the situation, it's the retentions people you want who will hopefully solve the problem.Regards Micky

Hi Micky, thanks for your reply.

That is exactly what I have been doing and getting nowhere. Retentions are doing just that, doing their best to stop me from leaving. But they are telling me one thing and not doing what they say. Very disappointing and dishonest.

Go into your local VM high street store at the weekend - take all your details and and tell the manager you want him/her to cancel your services.

Re: So, is Full House now going to lose all the kids channels?

Beware of calls from Virgin Media offering TV package upgrade for 10 years loyalty at reduced price. Had Fun package with lots of kids channels. Caller said Full House package would be great for our 10 year old daughter. Also got advertising email from Virgin Media last Friday saying Full House package included Nick Jr. Foolishly agreed to upgrade - now have fewer kids channels than on Freeview!! Feel I've been cheated. Hope contract has cooling off period so can cancel. This after they removed non HD kids channels like CBBC so that our box keeps hitting 100% full because have to record programmes in HD. Not pleased!

PS. Just looked at Virgin Media Channel Guide - published Wed 1st May. It shows that Full House package has ALL kids channels! However at end of small print it says something about non Full House customers (previously TV XL) having to pay to add channels. Our bill says we were paying for Fun Package. What are Virgin Media playing at?

'This after they removed non HD kids channels like CBBC so that our box keeps hitting 100% full because have to record programmes in HD Not pleased!'

everything is moving to hd now as with all providers, sky/bt etc. the old sd is being pased out. i would add that recordings are not meant to be for archiving, ie keeping shows indefinately. we have a show of someone we knew who went on tv, but when we upgrade to another box/the box goes kaput/we cancel the recording will be lost.

even on a 500gb hard drive it should hold 50 hours hd at least, probably more now due to a recent video compression exercise.

as for your other complaint. i sympathise.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for responding the cable is inside my property in my garden. I do to feel the need to send pics I’ve already made 4 calls to your customer service team to try and sort out when the cables going to be installed and never get a response. I’m removing the cable today and any further works you carry out that are not connected to a customer. I’m under no obligation to store you goods on my property and unless connected to user I can’t  see any legal issues with me removing. I do hope we could have sorted this matter out but advance I’ve had no response from your area manager I consider my actions suitable. I do thank for replying though it’s much further than any of your colleagues came. Best Ryan

Hi ryan44,

We wouldn't advise to remove these cables yourself.

If you're happy to provide me with these pictures then I can look to try and assist with this.

Cancelling service for parent with dementia

My mother has severe dementia and has had to move into a nursing home. I need to cancel her Virgin TV and phone as she no longer lives at the property. I have tried numerous times to contact Virgin by phone to carry out - what should be, a simple cancellation process. However, having spent the best part of an hour on calls (and emails to a Retentions team) I am told this cannot take place because, despite having power of attorney, I do not know a 5 digit password. Apparently, a letter will be sent to me about this - and if I don't like it I should read the data protection teams and conditions! Really? This is a very stressful time for my family - an elderly lady with dementia is not going to know a password! I work for the Financial Conduct Authority and have had a good deal of experience putting in place practices to help vulnerable customers and their families - surely Virgin Media can do this without insisting on a password? Can someone at Virgin Media please help me?

Hi KTGee,

I am sorry to hear your frustrations with this. Unfortunately to be able to process cancellation requests we do need to pass account security first. Have you previously provided us with a copy of your power of attorney paperwork?

If so then we would be able to ask secondary security questions to be able to proceed with the request. If this isn't the case however you would need to wait for that reminder letter before we'd be able to proceed with the request.

Thanks,

Tom_S

EDIT: only just seen Tom's reply - he was quick off the mark Smiley Happy

Yes there will be a process for this and a VM mod should contact you on here in a day or 2. In the meantime you could call in to your local VM High street store and see if the staff/manager in there can do this for you. take i.d. and paperwork in case they can.

Hi Martin,

Thanks again for getting back to me.

Please see attached images. Thanks for the advice, however if this matter is resolved quickly (I have been in contact with customer services for nearly a month) I will need to remove them. The other end (which I found once) isn't connected to anything. Please do let me know how we can remedy. Cheers Ry
