No movement. It's every evening at 9pm.

I've contacted your company.

Ethernet cable.

No.

It's ongoing.  Surely you have understanding of the error message instead of asking me the same questions.  Please explain your error message.  There is nothing posted on the internet that defines it.

Hi Ruby,

Sorry that you're having some issues uploading a picture - I have located the postcode via Google but of course we just need to confirm some address information - I've popped you a Private Message so we can take some information from you.

Just look out for the purple envelope and reply when you can.

Cheers

V6 box random restarts and intermittent WiFi

Hi,

my V6 box has been randomly restarting/rebooting itself for a few weeks now, sometimes restarting up to 5 times in a row. Also my WiFi keeps cutting out at random times, sometimes my broadband connection in general. Service status says there is no issue, but this is getting really annoying, especially when using WiFi for baby monitors/camera as we never know when it will cut out overnight. Any ideas?

Still getting a blocky picture. Maybe I should withhold payment of my next bill until it is fixed?

Unfortunately you will have to phone in if you want to reduce your bill.

To get the best deal you will have to select the "Thinking of Leaving" option and speak to Retentions which are based in the United Kingdom snd eill understand what you want to do.

Is anybody else having trouble loading Netflix on their Virgin TiVo box?

Nope - all ok here.
Is it a Tivo or a V6 box? Is it a new one ? Have you had it connected to netflix before and it has just stopped or have you never connected it before? Are you getting any error messages or codes ?  Is all other content working ok e.g the EPG and catch up ?

Sorry we're asking because we want to see if it's an "App platform" error on the TV or whether it's the Virgin Media Store itself.

Let us run some TV diagnostics and we can do this via online chat.

Warm Regards,

Hi Steveh31,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch.

We will always provide subtitles where we can, but unfortunately this depends on whether the broadcaster have provided us with it.

Apologies for any disappointment caused.

Many thanks,

Sorry the issue has been going on longer than expected Iano59. The tool we use to track issues via ref.# isn't currently working at the moment so I'm not able to see if this has been resolved, but if you're still having issues please respond to the PM I'm about to send so we can investigate further.

Thanks,

You cannot blame the broadcasters as I said on demand had subtitles 15 years ago now there is none Virgin has a responsibiity to provide subtitles and not just the broadcasters, it clearly is a virgin issue as no channels on demand have subtitles even itv so trying to blame the broadcasters is not good enough.

'You cannot blame the broadcasters....'

they can. virgin play no part in providing subtitling. broadcasters are also only required to subtitle a particular percentage of shows depending on which channel it is on. although the main channels are required to generally do subtitles, as far as i am aware on demand does not have the same cross over requirements.

customers on sky's forum have also complained about the same thing many times.

irritating i know.

i don't see there ever being a true picknmix selection ie mr bloggs wants, nickelodeon, sky news, itv4 and the crime and investigation channel. they then pay £1 a month.

i think the change now is only happening because virgin/sky/bt are running scared of netflix/amazon/disney channel/apple channel. if people could literally pick just say 8 channels across the board too many would go out of business. choice would disappear. channels like talking pictures, vice, horse and country etc, minority channels would cease to exist as their market share would be minimal, rather than a flat rate across the board payment.

the customer would have a true choice but quickly find that choice becomes very limited.

Re: youtube app removal

it looks like Virgin Media have removed this feature when they butchered the original TiVO software Smiley Sad

my 4yr old and 6yr old have recently worked out how to launch the app and twice in the last week, we've found them watching some REALLY creepy and inappropriate content, even though all the content restriction in YouTube is enabled (this "feature" is utterly useless)... I just want to code-lock or entirely block/remove a lot of those apps, especially the unfiltered, uncontrolled ones like YouTube....

If I have to lock the TiVo remote away to restrict this, then we might as well not have TiVo at all...

Generally, I was getting pretty fed up with Virgin continuing to block installing of useful TiVo apps like Amazon Prime Video... I keep on looking into ditching TiVo in favour of a more open FreeView/FreeSat tuner that hasn't removed core features, but this has just made the decision for me, sorry Virgin, but you can't drop the ball like this.

I'm getting that way too. Other big companies have realised the importance of allowing parents to monitor/ restrict/ time bound. I don't understand how unrestricted access to something known to contain inappropriate material, on something as universal as a television, is seen as acceptable? Surely Virgin would be better to invest in this when it's clearly something lots of parents are calling out for.
