Re: Tv Licence

Its a valid question though, just a matter of extremes.

If I watch BBC content through a ropey IPTV app, I can avoid the licence fee, but if I watch it through a paid for subscription through a set top box I cant....

I HAVE a TV licence but the ONLY thing I watch on the BEEB is Doctor Who. Oh hold on , This Country as well.....

Honest people penalised. Again.

If you watch TV - even if it's never BBC - you still have to pay the TV Licence fee.

As long as you're watching live T.V. (no matter how the connectivity method) then you would need the license. If you do on demand content only, no problem.

I have T.V.s at home, but no license. They're hooked up as monitors for desktop computers and game consoles. I remember when I told them (BBC) I didn't watch live T.V. anymore. They sent someone round to check, I could have denied them access sure. But I let the person in and they checked that there was no T.V. by the aerial. Never heard from them since. T.V.s are great multipurpose monitors.

Trying to con into contract

Moved house the other week, change address assisted by the "movers team". I called today as I am unable to pay the £80 a month bill, during this conversation your employee's have advised I am currently bound in a 12 month contract

You are now stating i was signed up to a 12 month contract when i moved into the address.

I DID NOT AGREE OR WAS I MADE AWARE IN ANYWAY

You have stated over the phone I was sent a letter ( I have every letter, including marketing and spam posted through my door )  i have recieved 3 letters:

1 - Work being done in area

2 - Offer for wine with package

3 - letter stating bill amount

You also stated i recieved an email on the 20th, ( I also have every email ever recieved since the original agreement 13 months prior ) there is no email stating a new contract in any form from you just marketing and ebill information.

As I stated above there has been no mention of any contract. I will also put it in writing in to the office so the complaint get be dealt with and resolved. Any contract requires acceptance and this has not been given at any point.

I understand that you record calls as mentioned in your automated message when calling. Your staff have mentioned these are for "training purposes only" and not for public use, i would agrue that the calls will also reveal that none of the movers team mention contract or 12 month obligation.

Might I also add that this isnt the first mistake the moving team have made after an earlier call about moving they decided to action the change and book engineers out to install in the wrong address?

Live TV and how you watch it - TV Licensing

The BBC , ITV , etc you view on VM box are the same channels you view through your Tv aerial the only way you can avoid a Tv licence fee is if you never watch a Live Tv broadcast from any UK Tv suppliers and I would defy anyone to say they have never watched Live Tv of any kind so like the rest of us pay up accept it as a stealth tax like every other one in the UK so far the only thing not taxed is fresh air and if they could figure out how to pull that off they would.

The same can be said for the other equipment that's listed.

As for saying you never watch tv content from source is by proving it and it could be hard to prove in a lot of cases.

Slow TV

Hi,

I have had virgin media in my home for 3 years now (TV, Broadband, and Phone). I noticed right from the start it was quite slow when clicking on Netflix, TV Guide etc but ignored it. My TV is a good one so it’s not that!

My parents recently moved house so got their virgin media reinstalled. They have the exact same package as me (and they pay less which is frustrating!) however when they click on things it happens immediately! I can click something and wait a good while before it opens the TV guide etc.

Is this likely to be due to the virgin media box thing being 3 years old ? How can I resolve this ? I pay more than my parents for the same package and it’s so slow I’m considering just scrapping it all together and going with a cheaper bundle elsewhere because the ‘perks’ of being with virgin media are soooooo slow it’s a waste of time having it !

Thanks in advance for any responses !

If you have one of the older original TiVO boxes these are known to be slow. The new V6 boxes are far quicker.

Thank you. I think mine is an original tivo. Do you know if there’s a way of having this changed ?

First option try rebooting your box not saying it will fix it but it’s worth a try ? Failing that hit the phone 150 choose Tv problems from the choice menu early am is best time they open at 8am.

I see lots of people have had the same issue. I recently signed up to Virgin with the free tv offer but I’ve had no confirmation about the TV at all. I asked over the phone and they had no idea. I’ve emailed in a complaint 10 days ago but had no reply either. Can anyone help?
